Grandma lives on forever!!
Behind our name is a real grandma. One who started it all by giving a special gift to her hockey-loving grandson.
Grandma Rachel M. Anderson was born in 1918 and raised in Ashby, Minnesota. She married Gerald Anderson and the happy couple had four sons. Grandma Rachel was an accomplished social worker and talented seamstress who loved sewing.
She was also the very proud grandmother of six grandchildren. One day she combined her passion for sewing with the love for her grandson and something magical happened!
In 1993, Grandma Rachel sewed a pair of pants for her grandson Erik to wear to hockey practice. The pants were fun, funky and warm, perfect for a hockey game. This gift became the very first unofficial pair of Grandma Pantsâ„¢.
Now, more than three decades later her values: generosity, fun, love and family remain at the heart of Grandma Pantsâ„¢. Grandma Rachel's legacy continues to live on in every pair of Grandma Pantsâ„¢ we make.
From Grandma’s Sewing Machine to the Hockey Community — and Back Again
Grandma Rachel Anderson sews the very first pair of Grandma Pantsâ„¢ for her grandson Erik to wear to hockey practice and school. A hockey tradition is born.
Grandma Pants, Inc. is officially incorportated in Minnesota, bringing the original Grandma Pants concept to the hockey community through commercial manufacturing.
Grandma Pantsâ„¢ establishes itself as the Original and Premier Hockey Tournament Vendor, becoming a familiar and popular presence at hockey tournaments.
Sales started to double as Grandma Pantsâ„¢ became a staple in Hockey and looked to expand to reach more excited fans!
Grandma Pantsâ„¢ develops into a premier holiday kiosk concept throughout Minnesota and expands into specialty retail markets across the United States and Canada.
Grandma Pantsâ„¢ partners with a powerful national buying group, bringing its products to gift stores and major retailers across the country.
 Grandma Pants™ enters the collegiate licensing business, selling licensed merchandise through college bookstores and larger apparel retailers nationwide.
The company expands into custom-order programs for high schools, teams, organizations, and other groups nationwide.
After an incredible 17-year run, the original Grandma Pants, Inc. winds down operations and takes a well-earned break.
After years away, Grandma Pantsâ„¢ is back.
